I am concerned about your [my wives] lives and affairs after my death. None will be forbearing towards you (provide for you), except the patient ones

‘Ā’ishah (may Allah be pleased with her) reported: The Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) used to say: "I am concerned about your [my wives] lives and affairs after my death. None will be forbearing towards you (provide for you), except the patient ones." He said: "Then ‘Ā'ishah said: referring to ‘Abdur-Rahmān ibn ‘Awf: 'May Allah let your father drink from the Salsabīl of Paradise', as he gave a property (a garden) in charity to the Prophet's wives which was sold for forty thousand."

Explanation

Abu Salamah ibn ‘Abdur-Rahmān ibn ‘Awf (may Allah have mercy upon him narrates that the Mother of the Believers ‘Ā'ishah (may Allah be pleased with her) said that the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) spoke to his wives saying: “I am concerned about your affairs and life after my death, as I will not leave you any inheritance. No one will bear the burden of providing for you, except those who are patient.” Then ‘Ā'ishah said to Abu Salamah: “May Allah let your father, ‘Abdur-Rahmān ibn ‘Awf, drink from a spring in Paradise called Salsabīl,” as ‘Abdur-Rahmān ibn ‘Awf gave a garden to the Prophet's wives in charity and it was sold for forty thousand dinars.
