Setting
1- Allah sent down the verse wherein He prohibited alcohol at a time when there was no other (intoxicant) drink in Madīnah except that prepared from dates
2- A man who had drunk alcohol was brought to the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) who hit him with a palm stalk with about forty lashes.
3- Every drink that intoxicates is unlawful.
4- The prohibition of wine was revealed, which is made of five things: grapes, dates, honey, wheat, and barley.
5- A man who drank wine was brought to the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him), who said: Beat him
6- A man who had drunk alcohol was brought to the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) and he gave the man about forty lashes with two palm branches
7- ‘Ali ibn Abi Tālib (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: I would not blame myself for the death of any person when inflicting a prescribed corporal punishment on him, with the exception of the one who drinks alcohols, for if he were to die (when being punished), I would pay blood money to his family, because no punishment has been fixed by the Messenger of Allah (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him) for him
