The Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) saw a man praying alone behind the row, so he commanded him to repeat his prayer

Wābisah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) saw a man praying alone behind the row, so he commanded him to repeat his prayer.

[Good hadith] [Narrated by Abu Daoud & At-Termedhy Ibn Majah & Ahmad]

Explanation

The Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) saw a man praying alone behind the row, so he commanded him to repeat his prayer because his prayer was invalid in that state.

Benefits

Encouraging the act of going to the congregational prayer early and seeking to find a place in the first rows and not to pray alone behind the row so as not to invalidate one's prayer.

Ibn Hajar said: Whoever starts the prayer alone behind the row then joins the row before rising from Rukū‘ (bowing) is not required to repeat the prayer as indicated by the Hadīth of Abu Bakrah; otherwise, he is required to repeat it according to the general indication of the Hadīth of Wābisah.
