Whoever wears silk in the life of this world will not wear it in the Hereafter

‘Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever wears silk in the life of this world will not wear it in the Hereafter."

[Authentic hadith] [Narrated by Bukhari & Muslim]

Explanation

The Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) pointed out that whoever among men wears silk in this world will not wear it in the Hereafter as a punishment for him unless he repents from it.

Benefits

Silk here refers to natural pure silk. As for artificial silk, it does not fall under the Hadīth.

Men are prohibited from wearing silk.

The prohibition of wearing silk includes using it as clothes and bedding or covering.

Men are allowed to have some silk in their clothes as wide as two or four fingers, to be used as a design or trimming for the garment.
