When a man loves his brother, he should tell him that he loves him

Al-Miqdām ibn Ma‘di Karib (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When a man loves his brother, he should tell him that he loves him."

[Authentic hadith] [Narrated by Abu Daoud & At-Termedhy & Ahmad & An-Nasa'i in Major Sunan]

Explanation

The Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) demonstrates one of the means that strengthens the bond between the believers and spreads love among them: If a person loves his fellow Muslim, he should tell him that he loves him.

Benefits

It points out the merit of love being purely for Allah's sake, not for worldly interests.

It is recommended to tell the one you love for Allah's sake that you love him. This will increase your love and friendliness.

Spreading love among the believers boosts their fraternity in faith, and protects society from disintegration and disunity.
