Setting
1- Leave them, for I had put them on when they were in the state of purity
2- I was with the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) then he urinated, and performed ablution and wiped over his leather socks
3- I saw the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) wiping over the top of his leather socks
4- If one of you makes ablution and then wears his leather socks, then let him wipe over them (in his next ablution) and pray while having them on without taking them off, except if he becomes in the state of Janābah
5- The Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) instructed us that during a journey we need not to take off our leather socks for up to three days and nights, except in case of major ritual impurity. In other cases such as sleeping, relieving oneself, or urinating, it is sufficient to wipe over leather socks
6- The Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) dispatched an expedition, but they came across cold weather. When they returned to the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him), he ordered them to wipe over their turbans and socks
7- The Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) set a limit of three days with their nights for the traveler, and one day and night for the one who is not traveling
8- The Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) granted the traveler a concession to wipe over his leather socks with a wet hand for three days and nights
9- They killed him, may Allah kill them! Why had they not asked when they did not know? The cure for ignorance is inquiry. It would have been enough for him to perform Tayammum and to press – or bind – a cloth over his wound then wipe with wet hands over it and wash the rest of his body
