1- Take this garment of mine to Abu Jahm and bring me his plain garment, because this one has distracted me from my prayer

2- The Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) ordered us to build mosques in different localities and that they should be kept clean

3- I implore you by Allah (to tell me) if you heard the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) saying: Answer on my behalf. O Allah, aid him with the Holy Spirit. He said: By Allah, yes

4- Whoever hears a man inquiring in the mosque about something he has lost should say: "May Allah not restore it to you," for indeed mosques are not built for this

5- The Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When you see someone buying or selling in the mosque, say to him: 'May Allah not make your sale profitable!' And when you see someone announcing a lost item in the mosque, then say: 'May Allah not return it to you!'"

6- Leave them, for these are the days of Eid. Those were the days of Mina

7- The Hour will not appear until people boast about mosques

8- The Hadīth of the one harming his prayer as reported by Rifā‘ah (may Allah be pleased with him)

9- Abu Humayd As-Sā‘idi, while he was sitting with ten of the Companions of the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) including Abu Qatādah, said: I am the most knowledgeable among you about the Prophet's prayer

10- When the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) got up to pray at night, he would make Takbīr and then say: Glory be to You, O Allah, and praise. Blessed is Your name, exalted is Your greatness, and there is nothing worthy of worship but You

11- The Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) used to start the prayer with the Takbīr and then read: {All praise is due to Allah, Lord of the worlds} When he bowed, he neither raised his head nor lowered it, but kept it in between

12- I prayed with the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) and he placed his right hand above his left hand on his chest

13- The Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) as well as Abu Bakr and ‘Umar, used to begin the prayer with {All praise is due to Allah, Lord of the worlds}

14- As for this man, he has filled his hand with good

15- The Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) used to recite Al-Fātihah followed by another Sūrah in the first two Rak‘āhs of the Zhuhr prayer and used to recite only Al-Fātihah in the last two Rak‘āhs of it. Sometimes a verse or so was audible

16- We used to estimate the time that the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) would stand when performing the Zhuhr and the ‘Asr prayers. We estimated that the time he stood in the first two Rak‘ahs of the Zhuhr prayer as the being the time taken to recite Sūrat As-Sajdah and it would be half of that time in the last two Rak‘ahs

17- I have never prayed behind anyone whose prayer more closely resembles that of the Messenger of Allah (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him) than so-and-so. We prayed behind him and he would lengthen the first two Rak‘ahs of the Zhuhr and shorten the last two

18- I heard the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) recite Sūrah At-Tūr during the Maghrib prayer. When he reached this verse: {Were they created by nothing? Or were they themselves the creators? Or did they create the heavens and the earth? Rather, they are not certain. Or have they the depositories [containing the provision] of your Lord? Or are they the controllers [of them]?}, it was as if my heart was about to take flight

19- O people, there is nothing remaining of the glad tidings of prophet-hood except a good vision that a Muslim sees or someone else sees it for him. Verily, I have been forbidden to recite the Qur'an while bowing or prostrating

20- In the prayer of the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) the bowing, rising from bowing, prostration, and sitting between the two prostrations were all roughly the same (in length)

21- Whenever the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) bowed, he would spread out his fingers, and whenever he prostrated, he would join them together

22- When the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) was performing an odd-numbered Rak‘ah, he would not get up until he had been settled in the sitting position

23- The Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) invoked evil on the tribe of Banu Sulaym for one month after rising from Rukū‘ in prayer

24- The Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) did not say the Qunūt but he would pray for welfare of a people or doom of others

25- O father, you prayed behind the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) Abu Bakr, ‘Umar, ‘Uthmān, and ‘Ali here in Kufah for about five years. Did they use to recite the Qunūt in the Fajr prayer? He said: O son, this is an innovation in religion

26- When the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) sat for supplication, he would put his right hand on his right thigh and his left hand on his left thigh, point with his index finger, place his thumb on his middle finger, and cover his knee with the palm of his left hand

27- The Messenger of Allah (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him) used to teach us the Tashahhud just as he teaches us a Sūrah from the Qur’an

28- Pray on the ground if you are able to; and if not, then use gestures and make your prostration lower than your bowing

29- One night, the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) performed Qiyām while reciting a single verse from the Qur'an

30- The Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) performed Hajj on an old saddle, covered by a sheet worth four dirhams or less. Then he said: O Allah, grant me a Hajj in which no showing off is intended nor reputation sought

31- My heirs should not take a dinar or dirham. Whatever I leave behind, excluding the provision for my wives and my employees, should be spent in charity

32- Al-Mughīrah ibn Shu‘bah led us in prayer, and he stood up directly after offering the second Rak‘ah (without sitting for Tashahhud), so we said: "Glory be to Allah" whereupon he said: "Glory be to Allah" and continued with the prayer. When he completed his prayer and ended it with Taslīm, he made two prostrations of forgetfulness. When he left the prayer, he said: "I saw the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) do as I did.

33- Abu Hurayrah recited Sūrat al-Inshiqāq and then prostrated. After he finished the prostration, he told them that the Messenger of Allah (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him) had prostrated when he recited it

34- I recited before the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) Sūrat An-Najm and he did not prostrate in it

35- I said to the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him): Are there two prostrations in Sūrat al-Hajj? He said: Yes, and whoever does not perform them should not read them

36- Whenever the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) received good news, he would fall down in prostration out of gratitude to Allah

37- Offer two Rak‘ahs before Maghrib

38- While the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) was standing on the pulpit, a man asked him: What do you say about prayer in the night? He replied: Two and two; and if one is afraid that the Fajr is coming, then one should offer one Rak‘ah, which will be the Witr for whatever one has prayed

39- The Witr is due, so whoever wants to pray the Witr as seven (units of prayer), let him do so; whoever wants to pray the Witr as five, let him do so; whoever wants to pray the Witr as three, let him do so; and whoever wants to pray the Witr as one, let him do so

40- The Messenger of Allah (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him) led us in prayer during the month of Ramadan, offering eight Rak‘ahs as well as the Witr. The next night, we gathered in the mosque and hoped that he would come out to us. However, we remained in the mosque until the morning

41- O ‘Abdullāh, do not be like so-and-so. He used to offer Qiyām al-Layl and then abandoned it

42- O people of the Qur'an, perform the Witr Prayer for, verily, Allah is Witr (single) and loves what is Witr (single, odd)

43- There should not be two Witr prayers during one night

44- If anyone sleeps before praying Witr or forgets it, let him pray it once he remembers it

45- The Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) would give up a deed, even though he liked to perform it, for fear that people would follow him and perform it, and it would thus become obligatory for them

46- The prayer of the oft-returning to Allah is when weaned camels are bitten by excessive heat

47- Do not do so. If any of you prays in his house and finds that the Imām has not prayed, he should pray along with him; and that will be a supererogatory prayer for him

48- The Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) was once riding a horse and fell down from it, injuring his right side

49- Come forward and be close to me and let those who come after you, follow your lead. If people continue to fall behind, Allah puts them behind

50- I went to ‘Ā’ishah and asked her to describe to me the Messenger's illness. ‘Ā’ishah said: Yes. The Prophet became seriously ill and asked whether the people had prayed. We replied: No, O Messenger of Allah! They are waiting for you

51- O people, you cause aversion to others. Whoever leads people in prayer should make it brief, for among them are the sick, the weak, and those with needs to be fulfilled

52- Offer this prayer at this time and that prayer at that time. When the time for a prayer is due, let one of you call the Adhān, and let the one who knows the Qur’an most lead the prayer

53- The one who is the most versed in Allah's Book should lead the people in prayer

54- O Allah, place light in my heart, light in my sight, light in my hearing, light on my right, light on my left, light above me, light below me, light in front of me, light behind me, make light for me

55- An orphan and I prayed behind the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) in our house, and my mother Umm Sulaym was standing behind us

56- May Allah increase your keenness, but do not do that again

57- Umm Waraqah bint ‘Abdullāh ibn al-Hārith al-Ansāri reported that she had memorized the Qur'an, and the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) ordered her to lead her household in prayers. There was a Muezzin for her, and she used to lead her household in prayer

58- The Messenger of Allah (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him) appointed Ibn Umm Maktūm as his successor to lead the people in prayer, and he was blind

59- When one of you betroths a woman, if he can look at what urges him to marry her, let him do so

60- Go and look at her, for that is more likely to create love between you

61- If Allah casts the desire to engage a woman in the heart of a man, it is Okay for him to look at her

62- A previously-married woman is more entitled to give a decision about her marriage than her guardian, whereas a virgin's permission is to be sought. Her permission is her silence

63- A virgin girl came to the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) and said that her father had married her off although she hated [that marriage]. Therefore, the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) gave her the choice

64- The Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) married her when he was outside the state of Ihrām

65- May Allah curse the Muhallil (a man who marries an irrevocably divorced woman for the sole purpose of making her lawful for her ex-husband to remarry) and the Muhallal lahu (the ex-husband of the woman who was irrevocably divorced, seeking to remarry her through an unlawful marriage)

66- Let a flogged fornicator marry none but his like

67- A man divorced his wife three times, then another man married her and divorced her before consummating the marriage with her. Her first husband wanted to remarry her, and the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) was asked about that. He said: No, not until the second husband tastes of her sweetness what the first one tasted

68- The Jews used to say: If one has sexual intercourse with his wife from her back, then she will deliver a squint-eyed child. So this verse was revealed: {Your wives are a place of sowing of seed for you, so come to your place of cultivation however you wish} [Sūrat al-Baqarah: 223]

69- I was about to forbid sexual intercourse during the breastfeeding period until I considered that the Romans and the Persians do it without any harm done to their children thereby

70- The Jews say that coitus interruptus is minor infanticide. He said: The Jews told a lie. If Allah intends to create it, you cannot prevent it

71- The Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) held a wedding dinner for his marriage to one of his wives with two Mudds of barley

72- Indeed, you are not inferior in the sight of your family. If you wish, I can stay seven (nights) with you, but if I stay seven with you, I will also stay seven with my (other) wives

73- the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) allocated two days to ‘Ā’ishah; her own day and that of Sawdah

74- The Messenger of Allah (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him) liked sweets and honey, and whenever he finished the ‘Asr prayer, he would visit his wives and stay closely with them, one after another. He once visited Hafsah and remained with her for longer than usual

75- Whenever the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) intended to go on a journey, he would cast lots among his wives and would take the one on whom the lot fell

76- The wife of Thābit ibn Qays was separated from her husband by a Khul‘ during the time of the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him). So the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) ordered her to observe a waiting period of one menstrual cycle

77- Three things are binding regardless of whether they were expressed seriously or jokingly: marriage, divorce, and restoration (of a divorcee)

78- The son of Adam cannot make a vow concerning what is not his; he cannot free a slave who is not his; and he cannot divorce a woman who is not his (wife)

79- Barīrah was instructed to observe an ‘Iddah of three menstrual cycles

80- One or two sucks do not render marriage prohibited

81- It was revealed in the Qur'an that: ten times of breastfeeding known with certainty establish prohibition (Mahram relationship through breastfeeding); then that was abrogated and replaced with five times of breastfeeding known with certainty. The Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) died while these (words of the abrogating verse) were still being recited as part of the Qur'an

82- No prohibition results from suckling, except for what penetrates the intestines from the breast before weaning

83- The hand which gives is the higher hand. Start with those for whom you are responsible: your mother, your father, your sister, your brother, then the closest in kin and the closest in kin

84- One will be committing a great sin if he withholds sustenance from those whom he should provide for

85- The best charity is that which is given out of richness. The upper hand is better than the lower hand, and let one of you start with those whom he is responsible to provide for

86- Whoever intentionally kills a believer shall be handed to the guardians of the killed person: if they will, they may kill him, and if they will, they may accept the blood money. [The blood money] is thirty 'Hiqqah', thirty 'Jadha‘ah', and forty 'Khalifah'. And whatever they agree upon shall be given to them

87- Do not punish (anybody) with Allah's punishment

88- The Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) beat and exiled, Abu Bakr beat and exiled, and ‘Umar beat and exiled

89- The Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) cursed the effeminate men and the masculine women. He said: Turn them out of your houses

90- If somebody slanders his slave and the slave is innocent of what he says, he will be flogged on the Day of Judgment unless the slave really is as he described him

91- May Allah curse the thief who steals an egg and his hand is cut off for that, and he steals a rope and his hand is cut off for that

92- I was sleeping in the mosque while covered by a Khamīsah cloak of mine whose price was thirty dirhams. A man came and snatched it away from me. The man was seized and brought to the Messenger of Allah (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him) who ordered that his hand should be cut off

93- A man who had drunk alcohol was brought to the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) and he gave the man about forty lashes with two palm branches

94- We got some food on the Day of Khaybar. A man would come and take the amount he needed from it then go away

95- The Muslims are like one hand against all those who are outside the community. Their blood and wealth are equal (in terms of inviolability). The protection granted by the lowest of them in status is to be honored by all Muslims, and the Muslims return (the spoils of war) to the farthest of them

96- The Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) sent Khālid ibn al-Walīd to Ukaydir of Dūmah. He (Ukaydir) was seized and brought to the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) who spared his life and made a peace treaty with him on condition that they should pay Jizyah

97- Mu‘ādh ibn Jabal (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) sent me to Yemen and commanded me to collect a Tabī‘ (one-year-old calf) or Tabī‘ah (one-year-old cow) (as Zakah) for every 30 cows, a Musinnah (two-year-old cow) for every 40 cows, and a dinar for every non-Muslim who has reached the age of puberty or its equivalent in clothes

98- forbade (eating the flesh of) all carnivorous animals that have fangs and all birds that have talons

99- Are hyenas a type of game (animal)? Jābir replied: Yes

100- The Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) forbade riding the camel that feeds on dung as well as drinking its milk
