1- Hadīth of Rāfi‘ ibn Sinān about giving a child the option to choose between parents who separated upon conversion to Islam

2- A father is not to be killed for killing his child

3- The lives of all Muslims are equal; they are one hand against the others. The covenant (given by even the) lowliest of them must be respected. Behold, a Muslim must not be killed for a disbeliever, nor must one who has been given a covenant be killed while his covenant is still in force. If anyone introduces an evil, he will be responsible for it. Whoever introduces an evil deed or shelters a perpetrator incurs the curse of Allah, His Angels, and all the people

4- A slave belonging to some poor people cut off the ear of another slave belonging to some rich people, so the owners of the perpetrator came to the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) and said: O Messenger of Allah, we are poor. The Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) did not stipulate any compensation to be paid by the perpetrator

5- Then the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) commanded anyone who is wounded not to seek retaliation until his wound heals. When his wound heals, he can seek retaliation

6- Among Allah's slaves, there are some who, if they take an oath by Allah (concerning something), Allah fulfills it

7- Whoever is killed in ambiguous circumstances, or when people are throwing stones, or by a whip, his blood money is the blood money of unpremeditated killing. Whoever is killed intentionally, retaliation becomes due. If anyone tries to prevent it, upon him is the curse of Allah, the angels, and all people

8- Ibn ‘Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that a boy was murdered, and ‘Umar said: If all the people of Sanaa took part in it, I would kill them all

9- Beware! Every object of pride of the pre-Islamic times, whether it is blood-vengeance or property, or mentioned or claimed, has been put under my feet, except the supply of water to pilgrims and the custody of the House

10- This and that are equal; meaning the pinky finger and the thumb

11- Anyone who practices medicine although he is not known to have learned medicine is liable (to compensate any damage)

12- The blood money of a Mu‘āhad is half the blood money of a free Muslim

13- The blood money of the semi-intentional killing is as aggravated as that of intentional killing, but the perpetrator is not to be killed. This happens when the devil stirs enmity between people, causing them to shed blood but not due to grudge or carrying weapons in fighting

14- I went to the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) with my father. The Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) then asked my father: Is this your son? He replied: Yes, by the Lord of the Ka‘bah

15- We will not appoint for our affairs anyone who seeks that position. But O Abu Mūsa! You go to Yemen

16- Learn from me, learn from me. Allah has ordained another way for them (women who commit illegal sexual intercourse). (If) a virgin (commits adultery) with a virgin, (the punishment will be) one hundred lashes and exile for a year. (If) a non-virgin (commits adultery) with a non-virgin, (the punishment will be) one hundred lashes and stoning (to death)

17- When Mā‘iz ibn Mālik came to the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) (in order to confess adultery), the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said to him: Probably you have only kissed, winked, or looked (at the lady)? He said: No, O Messenger of Allah. The Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said: using no euphemism: Did you copulate with her? The narrator added: At that, (i.e. after his confession) the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) ordered that he be stoned (to death)

18- Verily Allah sent Muhammad (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) with the truth and sent the Book down to him. Part of what was revealed to him was the verse on stoning. We recited, understood, and comprehended it. The Messenger of Allah (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him) did administer stoning and we administered it after his death

19- ‘Ā’ishah (may Allah be pleased with her) reported: When my vindication was revealed, the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) got up onto the pulpit, mentioned what happened, and recited (the verses of the Qur'an that had been revealed)

20- Hilāl ibn Umayyah went to the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) and accused his wife of committing illegal sexual intercourse with Sharīk ibn Sahmā'. The Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said: Either you provide proof, or you will receive the legal punishment on your back

21- Cutting (off hands) does not apply to a traitor, an usurper, or an embezzler

22- The hand is not to be cut off for taking fruit or Kathar (the pith of the palm-tree)

23- Whatever a needy person eats without putting any in his pocket (and taking it away), there is no penalty on him. But whoever takes something away, he must pay a fine of twice its value and receive punishment. Whoever steals something after it has been stored properly, and its value amounts to the price of a shield, his hand must be cut off

24- Raisins used to be soaked for the Messenger of Allah (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him) in a water skin, and he would drink it that day, the next day, and the following day. In the evening of the third day, he would drink it and give some to others. If anything was left, he would spill it

25- Forgive the people of good qualities their slips, but not faults to which prescribed corporal punishments apply

26- ‘Ali ibn Abi Tālib (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: I would not blame myself for the death of any person when inflicting a prescribed corporal punishment on him, with the exception of the one who drinks alcohols, for if he were to die (when being punished), I would pay blood money to his family, because no punishment has been fixed by the Messenger of Allah (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him) for him

27- Whenever the Messenger (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) intended to carry out a battle, he would use an equivocation to conceal his real destination till it was the battle of Tabūk

28- Go back, for I will not seek help from a polytheist

29- The Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) obtained the freedom of two Muslim men in captivity in exchange for a man from the polytheists

30- I witnessed the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) give a quarter (of the war spoils) as extra booty on the way out to a battle and a third on the way back

31- We used to get honey and grapes (as spoils) and eat them without bringing them (to the Prophet or the one in charge of distributing the spoils)

32- Whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day should not ride a mount belonging to the spoils of Muslims and then returns it when it becomes skinny out of exhaustion. Whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day should not wear a garment belonging to the spoils of the Muslims and then returns it when it is worn out

33- We went to the battle of Khaybar along with the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) and got spoils there. The Messenger of Allah divided them among us and placed the rest of them with the booty

34- We received a letter from ‘Umar ibn al-Khattāb one year before his death. He said: Cancel every marriage between unmarriageable relatives from among the Magians

35- The Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) would hold horse races and would prefer the stronger horses for the longer distances

36- We asked the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) about the fetus (of edible animals). He said: Eat it if you wish, for it is considered legally slaughtered with the slaughtering of its mother

37- The testimony of a Bedouin against a city dweller is not permissible

38- The Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) issued judgments based on an oath and a witness

39- The Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) suggested to some people that they should take an oath. When they hurried to do so, he said that lots should be cast to decide which of them should take the oath

40- If anyone gets possession of a relative who is within the prohibited degrees (of marriage), that person becomes free

41- Safīnah said: I was Umm Salāmah’s slave, and she said: I will free you on condition that you serve the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) for as long as you live

42- A slave who has entered into an agreement to purchase his freedom remains a slave as long as a dirham of the agreed price remains to be paid

43- If anyone leaves behind a debt or a helpless family, I shall be responsible. But if anyone leaves wealth, it goes to his heirs. I am the heir of him who has none, paying blood money on his behalf and inheriting from him. And a maternal uncle is the heir of him who has none, paying blood money on his behalf and inheriting from him

44- A newborn who cries after birth is entitled to inheritance

45- If the one passing in front of a person who is praying would know the gravity of his sin, it would have been better for him to stand for forty than to pass in front him

46- When anyone of you prays towards an object that acts as a barrier between him and the people and then someone tries to pass in front of him, he should push him away; and if he insists, he should fight him, for indeed he is a devil

47- The sun and the moon are two of the signs of Allah, by which Allah frightens His slaves. They do not eclipse on account of the death of anyone. So, when there is an eclipse, observe prayer and supplication till it (the eclipse) is over

48- The reward of a man's prayer in congregation is twenty five times greater than that of the prayer he offers in his house or market

49- Lands will be laid open for you, and Allah will spare you the fight. So, let none of you fail to play with his arrows

50- The tourism of my nation is Jihad in the path of Allah, the Exalted

51- You will receive seven hundred she-camels in return for it on the Day of Resurrection, all wearing bridles

52- The Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) used to start the prayer with Takbīr and then read: All praise is due to Allah, Lord of the worlds. When he bowed, he neither raised his head nor lowered it, but kept it in between

53- May Allah curse the Jews and the Christians, they took the graves of their prophets as places of worship

54- O Allah, Lord of mankind, Remover of harm. Cure, You are the Curer. There is no curer but You. A cure that leaves behind no illness

55- Whoever performs ablution like this, his previous sins will be forgiven

56- Whoever performs the Fajr prayer will be under the protection of Allah

57- None of you should offer prayer in a single garment that does not cover the shoulders

58- When the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) made Takbīr, he would raise his hands up to the level of his ears. When he bowed, he would raise his hands up to the level of his ears, and when he raised his head from bowing and said: "Allah hears those who praise Him," he would do the same

59- It is a Sunnah for a man who marries a virgin when he already has a wife (who is no longer a virgin) that he stay seven nights with the new wife and then divide his overnight stay between both. If he marries a previously-married woman when he already has a wife (either a virgin or not), the Sunnah is for him to stay with her (the new wife) three nights and then divide his overnight stay between both

60- Whoever carries weapons against us is not one of us

61- Whoever fasts a day in the way of Allah, Allah will keep his face away from the Fire seventy falls

62- People will continue to be good as long as they hasten to break the fast

63- When the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) was among us, we used to give out Zakat al-Fitr on behalf of every young and old person, free or slave, as one Sā‘ of food, or one Sā‘ of Aqit (dried yogurt), or one Sā‘ of barley, or one Sā‘ of dates, or one Sā‘ of raisins

64- We had Suhūr (pre-dawn meal) with the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him), and then he stood for prayer. I said: How long was the time between Adhān and Suhūr? He said: The time it takes to recite fifty verses

65- The Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) used to practice I‘tikāf (seclusion for worship) during the last ten of Ramadan until he died. Then his wives observed I‘tikāf after him

66- Have Sahūr (pre-dawn meal) for, indeed, there is a blessing in Sahūr

67- Do not precede Ramadan by fasting a day or two unless a man has a habitual fast, then let him fast it

68- The Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) enjoined Zakat al-Fitr as one Sā‘ of dates or one Sā‘ of barley on the slave and the free person, the male and the female, the young and the old from among the Muslims. He ordered that it be given before the people go out to the prayer

69- It is not lawful for a Muslim woman to travel the distance of one night unless accompanied by a man who is a Mahram (non-marriageable male relative) to her

70- Whoever forgets while fasting and eats or drinks, let him complete his fast, for it is Allah Who fed him and gave him drink

71- I witnessed Eid with ‘Umar ibn al-Khattāb (may Allah be pleased with him), and he said: These are two days that the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) forbade fasting: the day of breaking your fast, and the other day in which you eat from your sacrifice

72- The Talbiyah of the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him): "Labbayka Allāhumma labbayk, labbayka la sharīka laka labbayk, inna al-hamda wa an-ni‘mata laka wal-mulk, la sharīka lak." (O Allah, I respond to Your call, I do respond. I respond to Your call, You have no partner, I do respond. Verily, praise, blessing, and sovereignty belong to You; You have no partner)

73- Seek out the Night of Qadr (Decree) in the odd nights of the last ten of Ramadan

74- I see that your visions have agreed on the last seven, so, whoever seeks it, let him seek it in the last seven

75- Has Allah not provided for you that which you can give as charity? Every Tasbīh (saying: Glory be to Allah) is charity; every Takbīr (saying: Allah is the Greatest) is charity; every Tahmīd (saying: Praise be to Allah) is charity; and every Tahlīl (saying: There is no God but Allah) is charity. Enjoining good is charity, forbidding evil is charity, and even in fulfilling the sexual desire of one of you there is charity

76- Verily, the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) disavowed the Sāliqah (wailing woman), the Hāliqah (shaving woman), and the Shāqqah (woman tearing garment)

77- With the start of the ten, the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) would revive the night, wake up his family, exert himself, and tighten up the lower garment

78- The Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) did not offer a prayer after the revelation of {When there comes Allah’s help and the conquest} [Surat an-Nasr: 1] except that he would say therein: "Subhānaka Rabbana wa bihamdik, Allāhumma ighfir li (Glory and praise be to You, our Lord. O Allah, forgive me)

79- Whoever seizes the right of a Muslim person by his oath, Allah will condemn him to Hellfire and will make Paradise forbidden for him." A man said to him: Even if it is something insignificant, O Messenger of Allah? He said: "Even if it is a twig of Arāk

80- No fasting counts for the one who fasts continuously. Fasting three days is like fasting the entire year

81- Whoever visits a sick person whose time of death has not yet come, and says seven times in his presence: 'As’alullāh al-‘azhīm Rabb al-‘arshi al-‘azhīm an yashfiyak (I ask Allah the Great, Lord of the great Throne, to cure you),' except that Allah will cure him of that sickness

82- The Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) cursed the man who wears women's clothes and the woman who wears men's clothes

83- Whoever has a sacrifice to slaughter, once the crescent of Dhul-Hijjah is declared, he should not take anything from his hair or his nails until he sacrifices

84- When Ramadan comes, the gates of Paradise are opened, the gates of Hellfire are closed, and the devils are chained

85- Gold for gold, silver for silver, wheat for wheat, barley for barley, dates for dates, and salt for salt, like for like, equal for equal, hand to hand. If these classes differ, sell as you wish if it is hand to hand
