1- O Allah, have mercy on those who shaved their heads. They said: And those who shortened their hair, O Messenger of Allah? He said: O Allah, have mercy on those who shaved their heads. They said: And those who shortened their hair, O Messenger of Allah? He said: O Allah, have mercy on those who shaved their heads. They said: And those who shortened their hair, O Messenger of Allah? He said: And those who shortened their hair

2- The Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) combined the Maghrib and ‘Ishā' prayers (at Muzdalifah) with one Iqāmah. He did not offer any voluntary prayers in between or after either of them

3- If the person passing in front of someone praying knew the extent of the guilt he is incurring, he would prefer to stand for forty rather than pass in front him. Abu An-Nadr said: I am not sure if he said forty days, months, or years

4- The Messenger of Allah (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him) ordered us to bring out the young girls and the girls who stay home on the two Eid days, and ordered the menstruating women to distance themselves from the praying area of the Muslims

5- Anyone loves to meet Allah, Allah loves to meet him; and anyone dislikes to meet Allah, Allah dislikes to meet him

6- O Allah, forgive my past and future sins, my hidden and apparent sins, my transgression, and the sins that You know of more than I do. You are the One who puts forward and the One who holds back. There is no god but You

7- I stood in prayer one night with the Messenger of Allah (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him). He stood up and recited Sūrat al-Baqarah. Whenever he came across a verse mentioning mercy, he stopped and asked (Allah for mercy); and whenever he came across a verse mentioning punishment, he stopped and sought refuge (with Allah from it)

8- O Allah, to You I submit, in You I believe, upon You I rely, by Your help I contend with my foes, and to You I refer for judgment. So, forgive me the sins I committed in the past and those I may commit in the future, those I did secretly and those I did openly, and all that which You know of better than I do. There is no god but You

9- Allah has spoken the truth, and your brother's abdomen has lied. Let him drink honey

10- O Allah, Lord of Jibrīl, Mikha'īl, and Israfil, Originator of the heavens and the earth, Knower of the unseen and the seen, You judge between Your slaves concerning that in which they used to differ. Guide me, by Your permission, to the truth about which people differ. Verily, You guide whom You will to the straight path

11- Water is pure and nothing makes it impure

12- The Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) used to take a ritual bath with water left over from Maymūnah (may Allah be pleased with her)

13- Water is not affected by Janābah

14- It is not impure. It is one of those who roam around among you

15- Whatever is cut from an animal while it is alive, then it is dead flesh

16- The Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) was asked about making vinegar out of an alcoholic drink. He said: No

17- The urine of a girl should be washed, but the urine of a boy should be splashed with water

18- She should scrape it, rub it with water, and wash it, and then she may pray in it

19- It is enough for you to wash the blood, and there is nothing wrong with its mark

20- This is how the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) performed ablution

21- Perform ablution thoroughly, pass your fingers through each other, and snuff water well into your nostrils unless you are fasting

22- I saw ‘Ammār ibn Yāsir perform ablution, and he ran his fingers through his beard. It was said to him (or he said: I said to him): Do you run your fingers through your beard? He replied: What is there to prevent me if I have seen the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) run his fingers through his beard?

23- Two-thirds of a Mudd were brought to the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) and he began rubbing his arm

24- The Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) dispatched an expedition, but they came across cold weather. When they returned to the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him), he ordered them to wipe over their turbans and socks

25- During the Prophet's lifetime, the Companions used to wait for the ‘Ishā' prayer so much so their heads were lowered down (by dozing). They would then pray without performing (a new) ablution

26- Whoever touches his penis should make ablution

27- He asked: May I pray in the sheepfolds? He replied: Yes. He then asked: May I pray where camels sit? He replied: No

28- The one who washes the dead should take a bath, and the one who carries him should perform ablution

29- Fever is from the searing heat of Hell, so cool it off with water

30- The Messenger of Allah (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him) went out and supplicated for the martyrs of the battle of Uhud eight years after (their death), as if he was bidding farewell to the living and the dead

31- The Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) ordered to kill geckos, saying: They used to blow into [the fire] on Ibrahīm

32- If anyone kills a gecko in the first strike will have one hundred good deeds recorded for him; and with the second strike lesser than that and with the third strike lesser than that

33- Whenever we stopped at a place for rest, we would not offer any (voluntary) prayer until we unloaded the luggage from the riding animals

34- Allah admits to Paradise any Muslim whose goodness is testified to by four people

35- No woman among you loses three of her children to death except that they will screen her from Hellfire

36- ‘Abdullāh ibn Abi Awfa, while offering the funeral prayer for one of his daughters, recited four Takbīrs, and after the fourth Takbīr, he continued standing for a time equal to an interval between two Takbīrs, praying for her and seeking Allah's forgiveness for her." Then, he said: "The Messenger of Allah used to do so

37- I commanded you to burn so-and-so and so-and-so, but no one punishes with fire except Allah. So if you find them, kill them

38- No one should punish with fire except the Lord of fire

39- The sanctity of the wives of the Mujāhids for those who stay behind is like the sanctity of their own mothers

40- Shave it all or leave it all

41- If the strap of the sandal of one of you breaks, let him not walk in the other sandal until he fixes it

42- Change this and avoid black

43- Do not pluck out grey hair, for it is the light of the Muslim on the Day of Judgment

44- No one dies and they stand over him crying and saying, 'O what a great man he was! O how respectful he was,' except that two angels are appointed for him to poke him, saying: Were you like that?

45- Among the matters in respect of which we gave the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) the pledge not to disobey him in any goodness was that we should not scratch our faces, bewail, tear our clothes up, or dishevel our hair (in grief)

46- It is not appropriate to use mosques for urinating or filth. Indeed, they are built for the remembrance of Allah and the recitation of the Qur’an

47- A man announced (the loss of his camel) in the mosque, saying out loud: Has any one seen the red camel? Upon this the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said: May you not find it! The mosques are only built for the purpose they are built

48- The Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) forbade Hibwah (a sitting position) on Friday while the Imām is delivering the sermon

49- Beware of excessive swearing (by Allah) in sale transactions, for it sells (the goods) then erases (the blessing)

50- Verily, if one of you insists on fulfilling an oath by which he may harm his family that is more sinful in the sight of Allah, the Almighty, than breaking the oath and paying the (oath-breaking) expiation that Allah imposed

51- The Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) was reported to have said concerning a man who engages in sexual intercourse with his wife during her menses: Let him give one dinar or half a dinar in charity

52- Among the Jews, whenever a woman had her menstruation, they would neither eat with her nor associate with her in their houses

53- O Messenger of Allah, I am a woman who experiences a heavy prolonged flow of menstrual blood, so what do you think about it? It has prevented me from praying and fasting. He said: I suggest that you use cotton, for it eliminates (the traces of) blood. She replied: It is too copious for that

54- Glory be to Allah, this comes from the devil. Let her sit in a washtub, and if she sees yellowness on top of the water, she has to take a bath once for the Zhuhr and ‘Asr prayers and another bath for the Maghrib and ‘Ishā' prayers and a third bath for the Fajr prayer, and she may perform ablution in between that (if she needs to)

55- I have been granted victory by means of awe (cast in the hearts of the enemies), I have been given the keys of the earth, I have been named Ahmad, the earth was made for me a means of purification, and my nation has been made the best of nations

56- We have been preferred over others by three (privileges): Our rows are like the rows of the angels, the whole earth is for us a place to pray and its dust is for us a means to purify ourselves with if we do not find water

57- I used to take a bath with the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) from Janābah using a single water container in which we dipped our hands alternately

58- It is sufficient for you to pour three handfuls of water on your head then pour water all over yourself, and you will be purified

59- I poured water for the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) to take a ritual bath

60- When the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) took a ritual bath to remove Janābah, he would start by washing his hands. Then he would pour water with his right hand over his left hand to wash his private parts. Then he would make ablution like that he would make for his prayer

61- Man's discharge (i. e. semen) is thick and white, and the discharge (vaginal fluid) of a woman is thin and yellow, and the resemblance (of the child) comes from the one that dominates or precedes

62- The Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) forbade making Istinjā’ with dung or bones, and said: They do not purify

63- When the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) came out of the privy, he would say: 'Ghufrānak' (Your forgiveness)

64- He prohibited us from facing the Qiblah when defecating or urinating and from using the right hand, using less than three stones, and using dung and bones in Istinjā’

65- Kikh, kikh! Throw it! Don't you know that we do not eat from charity?

66- Time has completed its cycle and has returned to its state when Allah created the heavens and the earth. A year consists of twelve months, of which four are sacred; three of them are consecutive: Dhu al-Qi‘dah, Dhu al-Hijjah, Muharram, and Rajab of Mudar

67- If you fast three days of the month, then fast the thirteenth, fourteenth and fifteenth

68- When the call to prayer is announced, the devil takes to his heels and breaks wind with noise so as not to hear the call

69- Did the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) fast three days of each month?

70- The muezzins will have the longest necks among the people on the Day of Judgment

71- The Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) set a limit of three days with their nights for the traveler, and one day and night for the one who is not traveling

72- Say: Peace be upon the inhabitants of this place among the believers and Muslims. May Allah have mercy upon those who have gone on ahead of us and those who come later on, and we will join you, if Allah wills

73- When the edge of the sun rises, avoid prayer until it becomes prominent; and if the edge of the sun disappears, avoid prayer until it sets. And do not offer your prayer at the time of sunrise or sunset, for it rises between two horns of a devil – or the devil

74- Bring me stones so that I may cleanse (my private parts) therewith, but do not bring any bones or animal dung

75- The time for the Zhuhr prayer starts when the sun has passed its zenith and a man's shadow is equal in length to his height, until the time for the ‘Asr prayer comes. The time for the ‘Asr lasts until the sun turns yellow. The time for the Maghrib prayer lasts so long as the dusk is not gone. The time for the ‘Ishā' prayer lasts until midnight. The time for the Fajr prayer lasts from the break of dawn so long as the sun has not risen

76- We used to perform the Maghrib prayer with the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) and when one of us left he could still see where his arrow landed

77- Whoever catches one Rak‘ah before sunrise, he has caught the Fajr prayer, and whoever catches one Rak‘ah of the ‘Asr prayer before sunset, he has caught the ‘Asr prayer

78- Do not prevent anyone from circumambulating this House and from praying at any time of the day or night as they wish

79- There are two 'Fajrs'. As for the 'Fajr' that resembles the tale of a wolf, it is not a sign that prayer has become due or food has become forbidden to consume. And as for the 'Fajr' that takes a rectangular shape in the horizon, it is a sign that prayer has become due and food forbidden to consume

80- Those who are present should inform those who are absent: Do not offer any prayer after dawn except for two Rak‘ahs

81- Indeed, it is a true dream, Allah Willing! Go and teach these words to Bilāl, and let him make the call to prayer with them, as his voice is more melodious than yours

82- It is part of the Sunnah that when the Muezzin says in the Adhān for the Fajr prayer: "Come to success," he then says: "prayer is better than sleep."

83- The Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) combined the Maghrib and Ishā' prayers. He prayed three Rak‘ahs for Maghrib then two Rak‘ahs for Ishā' with one Iqāmah

84- You are their leader; be considerate to their weak ones, and choose a Muezzin who does not take wages for his Adhān

85- The Muezzin of the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) used to delay the Iqāmah until he would see the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) coming out. On seeing him, he would pronounce the Iqāmah

86- We were with the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) on a journey on a very dark night and we didn't know the direction of the Qiblah. So each man among us prayed in his own direction. In the morning, when we mentioned that to the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) the following verse was revealed: {So wherever you turn, there is the Face of Allah} [Sūrat al-Baqarah: 115]

87- What is between the east and the west is Qiblah

88- When anyone of you comes to the mosque, he should look (at his sandals). If he sees any filth or dirt on his sandals, he should wipe it off and pray in them

89- If any of you treads with his shoes on something unclean, they will be purified with the earth

90- I saw the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) praying and making a sound like the rumbling of a mill because of weeping

91- The Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) went out to Qubā' Mosque to pray in it

92- I saw the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) leading people in prayer and carrying Umāmah bint Abu al-‘Ās, the daughter of the Prophet's daughter Zaynab, on his shoulder. He put her down when he wanted to bow, and he picked her up again when he got up after prostration

93- Kill the two blacks during prayer: the snake and the scorpion

94- The Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) granted the traveler a concession to wipe over his leather socks with a wet hand for three days and nights

95- We used to pray and animals would pass in front of us. We mentioned that to the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) so he said: If anything, like the back of the saddle, is placed in front of anyone of you, then nothing that passes in front of him (but behind that thing) can harm him

96- When anyone of you prays, let him do so behind a barrier, even if an arrow

97- When one of you stands up to pray, he should put a screen in front of him as tall as the height of the back of a saddle. If he does not have something the height of the back of a saddle in front of him, his prayer would be invalidated if a donkey, a woman, or a black dog passed in front of him

98- ‘Ā'ishah used to hate that one keeps his hands on his flanks (while praying). She said that the Jew used to do so

99- If the supper is served, then start eating it before performing the Maghrib prayer, and do not be hasty in finishing it

100- I asked the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) about looking around during prayer. He replied: It is a way of stealing by which the devil steals a portion of a slave's prayer
