1- Abu Bakr As-Siddīq (may Allah be pleased with him) had a slave who used to give him a portion of his daily income as the master's share. Abu Bakr used to eat the food bought with that share

2- Al-‘Adbā', the Prophet's she-camel, was never outrun

3- When we ascended (a high land), we used to say Takbīr, and when we descended, we used to say Tasbīh

4- O people, do not trouble yourselves too much. He Whom you are calling is not deaf or absent. Verily, He is with you, He is All-Hearing and Ever Near

5- No Muslim visits a (sick) Muslim early in the morning but seventy thousand angels send blessings upon him

6- Whoever acquires knowledge which should be pursued for the sake of Allah...

7- Whoever follows a path in pursuit of knowledge, Allah will facilitate for him a path to Paradise

8- Whoever says "there is no god but Allah, and Allah is Greatest," his Lord affirms it, saying: There is no god but Me, and I am Greatest

9- When Allah wants to punish a people, the punishment befalls whoever is among them, then they will be resurrected according to their deeds

10- Abu Sālih used to order us that if anyone of us wanted to sleep, he should lie on his right side

11- This is mercy that Allah, the Exalted, has placed in the hearts of His slaves. Verily, Allah shows mercy to those of His slaves who are merciful

12- If the slave draws closer to Me by a hand-span, I shall draw closer to him by a cubit; and if he draws closer to Me by a cubit, I shall draw closer to him by the span of two outstretched arms. If he comes to Me walking, I shall come to him running

13- This (line) represents man, and this (line) represents the end of his life, and while he is as such, the closest line overtakes him

14- The worst lie is when a man claims to have seen something which he has not seen

15- The one who boasts of receiving what he has not been given is like the one who has put on two garments of falsehood

16- It does not befit the truthful one to frequently curse others

17- Do not curse one another, invoking the curse of Allah or His wrath or the fire of Hell

18- Unload it and set it free, for it is cursed

19- Let the she-camel upon which curse has been invoked not accompany us

20- Oxus, Jaxartes, Euphrates, and the Nile are all from the rivers of Paradise

21- The devil said: By Your Might O Lord, I will continue to misguide Your slaves as long as their souls remain in their bodies. The Lord said: By My Might and My Majesty, I will continue to forgive them as long as they seek forgiveness from Me

22- Beware of the invocations of the oppressed person, for, indeed, they rise to heaven as if they were sparks of fire

23- Paradise and Hell argued with one another. Hell said: I have been assigned the arrogant and the tyrants. Paradise said: Why is it that only the weak, the insignificant, and the simple enter me?

24- Two gardens, the utensils and the contents of which are of silver; two other gardens, the utensils and the contents of which are of gold. Nothing will prevent people from looking at their Lord except the veil of pride over His Face in the Garden of Eden

25- The Messenger of Allah (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him) went out and supplicated for the martyrs of the battle of Uhud eight years after (their death), as if he was bidding farewell to the living and the dead

26- If anyone kills a gecko in the first strike will have one hundred good deeds recorded for him; and with the second strike lesser than that and with the third strike lesser than that

27- No woman among you loses three of her children to death except that they will screen her from Hellfire

28- Any Muslim who loses three of his children will not be touched by the Fire except in fulfillment of the oath

29- Any Muslim who loses (to death) three children before reaching puberty will be admitted by Allah into Paradise because of his being merciful to them

30- If a man says: People are ruined, he himself will be the most ruined among them all

31- When two people insult each other, the one who started will be the sinner until the oppressed exceeds the limits

32- A man was brought to him, and it was said: This is so-and-so, and his beard is dripping with wine. Thereupon he said: We have been prohibited from spying. However, if we see something evident, we will act upon it

33- It is unlawful for a Muslim to abandon his brother for more than three (days); so whoever abandons more than three then dies will enter the Hellfire

34- Verily, Allah tortures those who torture people in this world

35- Whoever beats his slave boy or slaps him for something that he has not done, then the expiation for that is to set him free

36- Why do you sit in pathways? Avoid sitting in pathways

37- The first to be judged on the Day of Judgment is a man who was martyred. He will be brought and Allah will remind him of His favor [upon him], which he will recognize. Allah will say: What did you do as a token of gratitude for that favor? He will say: I fought for Your sake until I was martyred

38- What do you think of a man who does a good deed and people praise him for it? He said: That is instant good news for the believer

39- The sanctity of the wives of the Mujāhids for those who stay behind is like the sanctity of their own mothers

40- I asked the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) about the sudden glance, and he commanded me to avert my gaze

41- Cover the vessels, fasten the waterskins, close the doors, and extinguish the lamps, for, indeed, the devil does not loosen waterskins, nor open doors, nor uncover vessels

42- O people, he who knows about something, let him say it. And he who does not know should say: Allah knows best. It is part and parcel of knowledge that a man who does not know something should say: Allah knows best

43- The Messenger of Allah (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him) forbade that a man wears his shoes while standing

44- Do not curse the fever, for it removes the sins of the children of Adam the same way the bellows remove the impurities of iron

45- The Messenger of Allah (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him) commanded licking the fingers and the dish (after eating), and he said: You do not know in which portion the blessing lies

46- May the fasting people break their fast in your house, and may the righteous eat your food, and may the angels ask forgiveness and mercy for you

47- Verily, Allah does not take away knowledge by snatching it from the people; rather, He takes away knowledge with the death of the scholars

48- Should I not feel shy of a man whom the angels feel shy of?

49- If anyone says "I ask forgiveness from Allah, there is no deity except Him, the Ever-Living, the Sustainer of existence, and I turn to Him in repentance," his sins will be forgiven even if he has fled from the battlefield

50- Recite the Qur'an, because it will come as an intercessor on the Day of Judgment for its reciters

51- Verily, what I fear for you is a man who recites the Qur’an until its brightness appears on him and he becomes a support of Islam. (This continues) until this man changes his state to what Allah wills. He detaches himself from it and throws it behind his back. Then he starts attacking his neighbor with the sword, accusing him of polytheism

52- Allah selected Kinānah from the children of Isma‘īl, Quraysh from Kinānah, the children of Hāshim from Quraysh, and me from the children of Hāshim. So I am the master of the children of Adam, without pride. And I am the first for which the earth will be split open, and I am the first intercessor, and the first to be granted intercession

53- The Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) invoked evil on the tribe of Banu Sulaym for one month after rising from Rukū‘ in prayer

54- Fātimah is a piece of me, so whoever makes her angry makes me angry

55- Every nation has an extremely trustworthy man, and the most trustworthy man of this Ummah is Abu ‘Ubaydah ibn al-Jarrāh

56- Every prophet had a disciple and my disciple is Az-Zubayr

57- Az-Zubayr is the son of my paternal aunt and a disciple among my followers

58- Offer this prayer at this time and that prayer at that time. When the time for a prayer is due, let one of you call the Adhān, and let the one who knows the Qur’an most lead the prayer

59- O Allah, place light in my heart, light in my sight, light in my hearing, light on my right, light on my left, light above me, light below me, light in front of me, light behind me, make light for me

60- If one of you is invited to a wedding banquet, he should attend

61- The worst food is the food of a wedding banquet to which the rich are invited while the poor are left out. Anyone who does not answer the invitation has disobeyed Allah and His Messenger (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him)

62- If anyone of you is invited, let him answer the invitation. If he is fasting, let him supplicate (for the inviter); if he is not fasting, let him eat

63- Blessing descends in the middle of the food. So eat from the sides, and do not eat from the middle

64- the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) allocated two days to ‘Ā’ishah; her own day and that of Sawdah

65- The Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) used to ask in his final illness: Where will I be tomorrow? Where will I be tomorrow? He was looking forward to ‘Ā'ishah's turn [to stay with her]. So, his wives allowed him to stay wherever he wished

66- When your servant brings you your food, if you do not ask him to join you, then (at least) give him a bite or two, or a mouthful or two, for he was in charge of preparing it

67- A woman was tormented because of a cat which she had kept locked up until it died, and she was thrown into Hell for that. She neither gave it food or drink when she locked it up nor freed it so that it would eat from the vermin of the earth

68- The most rebellious of people against Allah, Exalted and Glorified, is someone who kills another in the sacred precincts of Allah

69- May Allah curse the thief who steals an egg and his hand is cut off for that, and he steals a rope and his hand is cut off for that

70- Keep some of your wealth, for this is better for you

71- "I am not weeping because I do not know that what Allah holds is better for the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him), but I weep because the revelation from the sky has stopped." Her words moved them to tears and they began to weep along with her

72- Today, I shall be the gatekeeper of the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him). Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) came and pushed the door and I said: "Who is it?" He said: "This is Abu Bakr." I said: "Wait, please." I went and said: "O Messenger of Allah, Abu Bakr seeks permission to come in." He said: "Let him in and give him glad tidings of Paradise."

73- These are the signs which Allah sends, not on account of the death of anyone or life of any one, but Allah sends them to frighten His servants thereby. So when you see any such thing, hasten to remember Him, supplicate Him, and beg pardon from Him

74- A man bought a piece of land from another man, and the one who bought the land found in his land a jar containing gold

75- The best sitting places are the widest

76- Allah, the Almighty, said: My love is certainly due to those who love one another for My sake, sit with one another for My sake, visit one another for My sake, cooperate and give one another for My sake

77- Whenever reinforcements from the people of Yemen came to ‘Umar ibn al-Khattāb (may Allah be pleased with him), he would ask them: Is Uways ibn ‘Āmir amongst you?

78- Never have I heard ‘Umar saying about something: I think it to be so-and-so, but it proved to be as he had thought

79- The finest form of dutifulness is maintaining relations with those whom one’s father loved

80- O Abu Batn, we only go to the market to greet with peace everyone we meet

81- Some people came to the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) and said: "Send with us some men to teach us the Qur'an and the Sunnah." So he sent to them seventy men from the Ansār who were called "the reciters"; among them was my maternal uncle Harām

82- Allah, the Almighty, ordered me to read to you {Those who disbelieve among the People of the Book and the Polytheists were not going to depart (from their ways) until there should come to them Clear Evidence.} [Sūrat al-Bayyinah: 98]

83- If a slave serves his master sincerely and worships Allah properly, he will have a double reward

84- By Allah! I do give a man and I leave another, and the one that I leave is more beloved to me than the one that I give

85- No son can repay the kindness of his father unless he finds him a slave and buys him and emancipates him

86- O Sa‘d ibn Mu‘ādh, the Paradise, by the Lord of the Ka‘bah, I smell the fragrance of Paradise near Mount Uhud

87- Well-done! That is a profitable deal! That is a profitable deal! I heard what you said: and I suggest that you give it to your nearest relatives

88- Among those who lived before you, there was a man who had killed ninety-nine people. He asked about the most knowledgeable person on earth and was guided to a monk. When he went to him, he informed him that he had killed ninety-nine people and asked if his repentance could be accepted. The monk replied in the negative, so the man killed him

89- The devil circulates in the son of Adam like blood. I feared lest he should cast evil thoughts in your hearts

90- I did not miss any battle with the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) except the battle of Tabūk. In fact, I did not take part in the battle of Badr, but none who failed to take part in it was blamed

91- The people of Kufa complained to ‘Umar ibn al-Khattāb about their governor Sa‘d. He dismissed him and appointed ‘Ammār as their governor

92- O Allah, cure Sa‘d, O Allah, cure Sa‘d

93- ‘Umar ibn al-Khattāb (may Allah be pleased with him) allocated a sum of four thousand dirhams for each of the early Muhājirūn

94- When you see those who praise others, throw dust upon their faces

95- While a man was walking through a barren land, he heard a voice coming out of a cloud

96- They left me no alternative but that they either beg of me importunately or regard me as a miser, and I am not a miser

97- By Him in Whose hand is my soul, if your state of mind remains the same as it is in my presence and you are always busy in Dhikr, the angels will shake hands with you in your beds and in your paths but, Hanzhalah, time and time

98- The story of the death of Az-Zubayr ibn al-‘Awwām (may Allah be pleased with him) and paying off his debt

99- A man came to the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) and said: I am weary

100- Your scattering about in the mountain passes and valleys is indeed from the devil
