1- Allah, the Almighty, said: My love is certainly due to those who love one another for My sake, sit with one another for My sake, visit one another for My sake, cooperate and give one another for My sake

2- Whenever reinforcements from the people of Yemen came to ‘Umar ibn al-Khattāb (may Allah be pleased with him), he would ask them: Is Uways ibn ‘Āmir amongst you?

3- Never have I heard ‘Umar saying about something: I think it to be so-and-so, but it proved to be as he had thought

4- The finest form of dutifulness is maintaining relations with those whom one’s father loved

5- O Abu Batn, we only go to the market to greet with peace everyone we meet

6- Some people came to the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) and said: "Send with us some men to teach us the Qur'an and the Sunnah." So he sent to them seventy men from the Ansār who were called "the reciters"; among them was my maternal uncle Harām

7- Allah, the Almighty, ordered me to read to you {Those who disbelieve among the People of the Book and the Polytheists were not going to depart (from their ways) until there should come to them Clear Evidence.} [Sūrat al-Bayyinah: 98]

8- If a slave serves his master sincerely and worships Allah properly, he will have a double reward

9- By Allah! I do give a man and I leave another, and the one that I leave is more beloved to me than the one that I give

10- No son can repay the kindness of his father unless he finds him a slave and buys him and emancipates him

11- O Sa‘d ibn Mu‘ādh, the Paradise, by the Lord of the Ka‘bah, I smell the fragrance of Paradise near Mount Uhud

12- Well-done! That is a profitable deal! That is a profitable deal! I heard what you said: and I suggest that you give it to your nearest relatives

13- Among those who lived before you, there was a man who had killed ninety-nine people. He asked about the most knowledgeable person on earth and was guided to a monk. When he went to him, he informed him that he had killed ninety-nine people and asked if his repentance could be accepted. The monk replied in the negative, so the man killed him

14- The devil circulates in the son of Adam like blood. I feared lest he should cast evil thoughts in your hearts

15- I did not miss any battle with the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) except the battle of Tabūk. In fact, I did not take part in the battle of Badr, but none who failed to take part in it was blamed

16- The people of Kufa complained to ‘Umar ibn al-Khattāb about their governor Sa‘d. He dismissed him and appointed ‘Ammār as their governor

17- O Allah, cure Sa‘d, O Allah, cure Sa‘d

18- ‘Umar ibn al-Khattāb (may Allah be pleased with him) allocated a sum of four thousand dirhams for each of the early Muhājirūn

19- When you see those who praise others, throw dust upon their faces

20- While a man was walking through a barren land, he heard a voice coming out of a cloud

21- They left me no alternative but that they either beg of me importunately or regard me as a miser, and I am not a miser

22- By Him in Whose hand is my soul, if your state of mind remains the same as it is in my presence and you are always busy in Dhikr, the angels will shake hands with you in your beds and in your paths but, Hanzhalah, time and time

23- The story of the death of Az-Zubayr ibn al-‘Awwām (may Allah be pleased with him) and paying off his debt

24- A man came to the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) and said: I am weary

25- Your scattering about in the mountain passes and valleys is indeed from the devil

26- Procrastination in payment of a debt by a rich man is injustice, but when one of you is referred for payment to a wealthy man, let him be referred

27- When the people of Yemen came, the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said: There have come to you the people of Yemen

28- People are precious metals, like the metals gold and silver. The best of them in the pre-Islamic period are the best of them in Islam, if they understand. Souls are conscripted soldiers, whichever of them come together, they unite and whichever of them disregard each other, they diverge

29- I was with Anas ibn Mālik (may Allah be pleased with him) in the company of some Magians when a sweet was brought in a silver vessel, and Anas did not eat from it

30- We went out along with the children to meet the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) at Thaniyyat al-Wadā‘

31- The angels continue to shade him with their wings

32- You are a person who has remnants of the ignorant pre-Islamic manners. Your slaves are your brothers and servants whom Allah has placed under your authority. He who has his brother under his authority should feed him from whatever he eats, dress him with whatever he wears, and not assign burdensome and difficult tasks to them that are beyond their capacity. If you do this then help them

33- On the Day of Resurrection, Allah will deliver to every Muslim a Jew or a Christian and say: This is your ransom from Hellfire

34- Did anyone of you have a dream? So dreams would be narrated to him by those whom Allah willed to relate. One day he said: Last night, I had a vision in which two men (angels) came to me, woke me up and said to me: Let’s go! So I set out with them

35- O Allah, save ʿAyyāsh ibn Abu Rabīʿah. O Allah, save Salamah ibn Hishām. O Allah, save Al-Walīd ibn al-Walīd. O Allah, save the oppressed believers. O Allah, be hard on [the tribe of] Mudar. O Allah, afflict them with years of famine and drought like the years of Yūsuf (Joseph)

36- A man from the Children of Israel asked another to lend him one thousand dinars

37- The Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) informed us of what was and of what is to come. The most knowledgeable among us is the one who memorized it best

38- Bear in mind, O Abu Mas‘ūd, that Allah has more power over you than you have over this boy. I said: I will never beat a slave ever again

39- Do not curse the rooster, for indeed it awakens (people) for prayer

40- Any wealth that I have conferred upon my slave is lawful for him. And I have created all My slaves with a natural predisposition to worship Allah alone, but the devils came to them and turned them away from their religion

41- My Lord, support me and do not support others against me; grant me victory and do not grant others victory over me; plan for me and do not plan against me; guide me and make my guidance easy for me; grant me victory against whoever wronged me

42- While three persons were walking, rain began to fall and they had to enter a cave in a mountain. A (big) rock rolled over (and blocked the mouth of the cave)

43- You are right about some of it and wrong about some

44- I fear two things for my Ummah: the Qur’an and milk. As for milk, they seek the countryside, follow desires, and neglect the prayers. As for the Qur’an, the hypocrites learn it to argue with the believers by means of it

45- The majority of the hypocrites of this Ummah are its reciters

46- The Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) visited me during my illness, riding neither a mule nor a horse

47- Indeed, Allah has put the truth upon the tongue and in the heart of ‘Umar

48- Jibrīl brought ‘Ā’ishah’s image in a piece of green silk to the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) and said: This is your wife in the world and the Hereafter

49- Verily, Ibrahīm is my son and he died as a suckling infant, and, verily, he has two wet nurses in Paradise completing his suckling period

50- The Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) wore two coats of mail. He tried to rise over a boulder, but he could not. Then Talhah bowed down and lifted the Prophet, so he could settle on the boulder. He then heard the Prophet saying: It is obligatory for Talhah

51- The bliss and torment of the grave in the Hadīth of Al-Barā' ibn ‘Āzib

52- Among Allah's slaves, there are some who, if they take an oath by Allah (concerning something), Allah fulfills it

53- Raisins used to be soaked for the Messenger of Allah (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him) in a water skin, and he would drink it that day, the next day, and the following day. In the evening of the third day, he would drink it and give some to others. If anything was left, he would spill it

54- When one of you sneezes, he should say "alhamdu-lillāh" (praise be to Allah) and his brother or companion should say to him: "yarhamuk Allah" (may Allah have mercy on you). When he says so to him, the sneezer should reply: "yahdīkum Allah wa yuslih bālakum!" (may Allah guide you and grant you well being)

55- Whoever Allah saves from the evil of what is between his jaws and the evil of what is between his legs will enter Paradise

56- Worship during times of turmoil is like emigration to me

57- O Allah, to You I have submitted, and in You I have believed, in You I have put my trust, to You I have turned in repentance, and for You I have argued. O Allah, I seek refuge with Your power, there is no god but You, that You lead me astray. You are the Ever Living, the One who never dies, whereas the human beings and jinn will all die

58- Do not say "Upon you be peace" for "Upon you be peace" is the greeting of the dead

59- How can I be at ease when the one with the trumpet has put his lips to the trumpet waiting to hear the order to blow it?

60- Read the Qur’an, as it will come as an intercessor for its companions on the Day of Resurrection

61- O Allah, forgive my past and future sins, and my secret and open sins

62- O Allah, Lord of mankind, Remover of harm. Cure, You are the Curer. There is no curer but You. A cure that leaves behind no illness

63- Paradise and Hellfire argued with each other (each claiming to be better than the other). Paradise said: The weak and poor will enter me. Hellfire said: The tyrants and arrogant will enter me. He said to Hellfire: You are My punishment with which I will exact revenge upon whomever I wish. Then He said to Paradise: You are My mercy with which I will show mercy to whomever I wish

64- By the One in Whose hand Muhammad's soul is! I hope that you would be one-half of the inhabitants of Paradise; for none shall enter Paradise except a Muslim soul, and you, compared to the polytheists, are no more than a white hair on the skin of a black ox

65- The dwellers of Paradise will see the upper abodes of Paradise as you see the stars in the sky

68- "When a Muslim—or a believer—performs ablution, and he washes his face, every sin he has looked at with his eyes comes out of his face with the water or with the last drop of water*. When he washes his hands, every sin he has struck with his hands comes out of his hands with the water or with the last drop of water. When he washes his feet, every sin his feet walked towards comes out with the water or with the last drop of water—until he comes out cleansed of sins."

70- "Allāhumma inni as’aluka al-huda wa at-tuqa wa al-‘afāf wa al-ghina (O Allah, I ask You for guidance, piety, chastity, and self-sufficiency)."

71- I said to the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him): Sufficient for you that Safiyyah is such-and-such, —one of the narrators said: She meant "short"—so he said: @"You have said a word that, if it were mixed with the water of the sea, it would taint it."* She said: And I mimicked a person for him, and he said: "I would not like to mimic a person, even if I were given such-and-such."

72- "O Abu Sa‘īd, whoever is pleased with Allah as a Lord, with Islam as a religion, and with Muhammad as a messenger, Paradise is guaranteed for him."* Abu Sa‘īd was full of wonder at that, so he said: O Messenger of Allah, repeat that to me. He did so and then said: "There is something else by means of which the slave is raised a hundred degrees in Paradise; the distance between each two degrees is like that between the heavens and the earth." He said: O Messenger of Allah, what is it? He said: "Jihad for the sake of Allah, Jihad for the sake of Allah."

74- "It is not lawful for a Muslim woman to travel the distance of one night unless accompanied by a man who is a Mahram (non-marriageable male relative) to her."

76- "Do not envy one another, do not raise prices by overbidding against one another, do not hate one another, do not turn your backs on one another, and do not undercut one another in trade; and be, O slaves of Allah, our brothers*. A Muslim is the brother of a Muslim; he does not wrong him, he does not fail him, and he does not despise him. Piety lies here," and he pointed to his chest three times. "It is enough evil for a person to look down upon his Muslim brother. All of a Muslim is inviolable to another Muslim: his blood, his property, and his honor."

77- "Whoever relieves a believer from one of the hardships of this world, Allah will relieve him from one of the hardships of the Day of Judgment*. Whoever makes things easy for someone in difficulty, Allah will make things easy for him in this world and the Hereafter. Whoever covers a Muslim, Allah will cover him in this world and the Hereafter. Allah is in the aid of the slave as long as the slave is in the aid of his brother. Whoever treads a path seeking knowledge, Allah will make easy for him a path to Paradise. No group of people gather in one of the houses of Allah, reciting the Book of Allah and studying it among themselves, except that tranquility descends upon them, mercy envelops them, the angels surround them, and Allah mentions them to those near Him. And whoever is slowed down by his deeds will not be hastened forward by his lineage."

78- "O people, repent to Allah, for I repent to Him one hundred times a day."

91- The Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) went out from her house in the early morning when he prayed the Morning prayer, while she was in her prayer place. Then he returned after offering the Forenoon prayer while she was still sitting. He said: "Are you still in the state I left you in?" She said: Yes. The Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said: @"I said four words three times after I had left you; if they were to be weighed against what you have been saying since morning, they would outweigh them*: Subhānallāh wa bihamdih, ‘adada khalqih, wa rida nafsih, a zinata ‘arshih, wa midāda kalimātih (Glory be to Allah and all praise is due to Him by the number of His creation, by His own pleasure, by the weight of His Throne, and by the ink of His words.)."

94- "Indeed, among the most beloved to me and the closest of you to me in position on the Day of Judgment are those of you who have the best morals*, and, indeed, the most hated of you to me and the farthest from me in position on the Day of Judgment are the talkative, the pompous, and the Mutafayhiqūn." They said: O Messenger of Allah, we know the talkative and the pompous, but who are the Mutafayhiqūn? He said: "The arrogant."

95- "Successful is the one who embraces Islam, is provided with mere subsistence, and Allah makes him content with what He has given him."

96- "Whoever among you wakes up in the morning healthy in his body, secure in his dwelling, and has his food for the day, it is as if the whole world has been given to him."

97- The Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) liked comprehensive supplications and would leave aside anything else.

98- "An oath is a means for selling a commodity and a means for destroying the profit."
