1- Purity is half of faith, al-hamdulillāh (praise be to Allah) fills the Scale, and subhānallāh wa al-hamdulillāh (glory and praise be to Allah) fills what is between the heavens and the earth

2- Five are acts of Fitrah (natural disposition): circumcision, shaving the pubic hair, trimming the mustache, clipping the nails, and plucking the armpit hair

3- Trim the mustaches and let the beards grow

4- If anyone performs ablution like this ablution of mine and offers two Rak'ahs during which he does not think of anything else, Allah will forgive his past sins

5- Allah does not accept the prayer of any of you who is in the state of Hadath (minor ritual impurity) until he performs ablution

6- The tooth-stick purifies the mouth and pleases the Lord

7- Whoever performs ablution perfectly, his sins will come out from his body, to the extent that it will come out from under his nails

8- Beware of (smearing yourselves with) urine, because it is the main cause of punishment in the grave

10- Beware of negnot washing your heels properly, for not doing so can lead to them being burnt in the Hellfire! So, perform your ablution thoroughly

11- Leave them, for I had put them on when they were in the state of purity

12- this is a vein. Abstain from prayer only for a number of days similar to those of your normal menses; then, take a ritual bath and pray

13- When any of you performs ablution, let him sniff water in his nose and then blow it out. Whoever cleans his private parts with stones, let him do so with an odd number of stones

14- When the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) got up at night, he would cleanse his mouth with Siwak (tooth-stick)

15- When you go to a place to relieve yourselves, do not face or turn your back to the Qiblah (prayer direction); rather, turn towards the east or the west

16- None of you should hold his penis with his right hand while urinating, nor wipe himself after answering the call of nature using his right hand, nor breathe into the vessel

17- When a dog drinks from the vessel of any of you, let him wash it seven times

18- The Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) used to say before entering the bathroom: "Allāhumma inni a‘ūdhu bika min al-khubuth wa al-khabā’ith (O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the male and female devils)

19- Manner of performing Ghusl (ritual bath) from Janābah (major ritual impurity)

20- On taking a ritual bath from Janābah (major ritual impurity), the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) used to wash his hands and perform ablution like that for prayer, then wash himself

21- I was a man of frequent discharge of Madhi (pre-seminal fluid) and I was too shy to ask the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) about it given his daughter's status. So, I asked Al-Miqdād ibn al-Aswad to ask him and he did. Thereupon, the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said: 'Let him wash his penis and perform ablution

22- When you put on clothes and when you perform ablution, you should begin with your right side

23- and performed ablution like that of the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) in front of them

24- I came to the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) while he was cleansing his mouth with a ripe tooth-stick. The edge of the tooth-stick was on his tongue and he was making a sound like: “ugh, ugh” as if he was heaving, and the tooth-stick was in his mouth

25- It was sufficient for you to do this with your hands." Then, he struck the ground once with his hands, then wiped the right hand with the left one, the back side of his hands and his face

26- Woe to the heel bones from the Hellfire

27- I asked 'Ā'ishah, saying: What did the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) use to start with upon entering his house? She said: With the Siwāk (toothstick)

28- Ten practices are part of the Fitrah: Trimming the mustache, letting the beard grow, using the tooth-stick, rinsing the nose, trimming the nails, washing the finger joints, plucking the armpit hair, shaving the pubic hair, and washing the private parts with water

29- When any of you sleeps, the devil ties three knots at the back of his head, striking each knot: Ahead of you is a long night, so keep sleeping

30- We used to prepare for the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) his tooth-stick and the water he used for making ablution. Then, Allah would awaken him whenever He willed during the night, and he would brush his teeth with the tooth-stick, make ablution, and perform prayer

31- Whoever takes a bath on Friday, like the bath taken from sexual impurity, and then goes (to the mosque) is like the one who offers a camel as a sacrifice

32- 'Whoever of you comes to attend the Friday prayer, let him take a shower

33- Its water is purifying, and its dead animals are lawful

34- If the water is two pitchers, it will bear no impurity

35- He who drinks in a vessel (made) of gold or silver has, in fact, swallowed in his stomach fire from Hell

36- Were it not that I would cause difficulty for my followers, I would command them to use the tooth-stick with every prayer

37- If any of you wakes up from his sleep, let him blow water out of his nose three times, as the devil spends the night on his nostrils

38- The Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) was performing ablution; he rinsed his mouth thrice and blew water out of his nose thrice. He then washed his face thrice and his right and left forearms thrice, then he took more water and wiped over his head, and then he washed his feet until he cleaned them

39- The Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) performed ablution and passed a wet hand on his forelock, over the turban, and over the two leather socks

40- The Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) used to run the water around his elbows while performing ablution

41- The prayer of a person who does not perform ablution is invalid, and the ablution of a person who does not mention the name of Allah is invalid

42- A man performed ablution and left a small part on his foot equal to the size of a nail unwashed. The Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) saw that and said: "Go back and perform your ablution properly." He performed it again and prayed

43- The Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) used to take a ritual bath with one Sā‘ up to five Mudds, and he used to perform ablution with one Mudd

44- There is no Muslim who performs ablution well and then stands and prays two Rak‘ahs while focused on them with his heart and his face, except that Paradise will be guaranteed for him

45- I saw the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) wiping over the top of his leather socks

46- If any of you makes ablution and puts on his leather socks, let him pray while having them on, and let him wipe over them without taking them off, if he wishes, except in the state of Janābah (major ritual impurity)

47- The Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) kissed some of his wives, and then went out for prayer without making ablution

48- Is it not but a piece of him

49- After becoming pure (from menstruation), we would not consider brownish and yellowish discharges to be of any significance

50- Wait for as long as your menstrual period normally stops you, and then take a ritual bath

51- If any of you has sexual intercourse with his wife and then wished to have intercourse again, then let him perform ablution between the two times

52- Whoever performs ablution on Friday, that is good, and whoever takes a bath has done what is better

53- Beware of the two things that provoke cursing. They said: O Messenger of Allah, what are those two things which provoke cursing? He said: The one who relieves himself on people’s roads or in their shade

54- The Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) used to sleep while in a state of Janābah without touching water

55- O ‘Ā'ishah, indeed, my eyes sleep but my heart does not sleep

56- The Prophet (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him) used to perform ablution upon every prayer

57- The Prophet (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him) performed ablution by washing the body parts once

58- The Prophet (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him) performed ablution by washing the body parts twice

59- If one of you feels something in his stomach and doubts whether he released some wind or not, he should not leave the mosque unless he hears a sound or smells an odor

60- It is due upon every Muslim to bathe for one day every seven days, in which he should wash his head and body

61- I came to the Prophet (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him) with the intention of embracing Islam. He commanded me to take a bath with water and the leaves of a lote tree

62- A time limit was set for us regarding trimming the mustache, clipping the nails, plucking the armpit hair, and shaving the pubic hair—that we should not leave them for more than forty nights

63- One day I climbed over Hafsah's house, and I saw the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) relieving himself while facing the Levant, with his back toward the Ka‘bah.

64- When the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) entered the privy, a servant and I used to carry a waterskin and a pointed staff, and he would cleanse himself with water

65- A Bedouin came and urinated in a corner of the mosque

66- Umm Habībah had non-menstrual vaginal bleeding for seven years. She asked the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) about that, and he ordered her to take a ritual bath.

67- No one of you should urinate in stagnant water then take a ritual bath with it

68- The Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) saw a person sitting aloof and not praying with the people. He asked him: “O so-and-so, what prevented you from offering the prayer with the people?” He replied: “O Messenger of Allah, I am ritually impure and there is no water.” In response, the Prophet (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him) said: “You should use clean earth, and that will be sufficient for you.”

69- I was with the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) when he arrived at the dump of some people and passed urine while standing

70- Glory be to Allah! The believer never becomes impure

71- O Messenger of Allah, verily, Allah does not feel shy of the truth. If a woman had a wet dream, would it be obligatory on her to take a ritual bath? He replied: Yes, if she sees vaginal fluid

72- The ornament of the believer will reach as far as his ablution reaches

73- I used to wash the traces of semen from the garment of the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) and he would go out to the prayer with water spots on his garment

74- I asked ‘Ā’ishah: Why does the menstruating woman make up for her missed fasts but does not make up for the missed prayers?

75- The Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) used to pour water over his head thrice

76- The Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) used to recline in my lap and recite the Qur'an during my menstruation

77- That she brought her small son, who had not yet eaten solid food, to the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ). The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) seated him on his lap, and he (the child) urinated on his garment. So the Prophet (ﷺ) called for some water, sprinkled it over the affected area, and did not wash it

78- If he sits between her four limbs and exerts himself, the ritual bath becomes obligatory

79- I have told you repeatedly to use the tooth-stick

80- He used to command us, when we were on a journey or were travellers, not to remove our leather socks for three days and nights—except in the case of Janābah (major ritual impurity). In other cases such as defecation, urination, or sleep, it is sufficient to wipe over leather socks

81- In the time of the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) we would not find such food except rarely. So if we found it, we had no napkins except our palms, forearms, and feet. Then we would pray without making (a new) ablution

82- Let him, and pour a bucket or pail of water onto his urine. You were sent to make things easy and not to make them difficult

83- Water is pure and nothing makes it impure

84- The Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) used to take a ritual bath with water left over from Maymūnah (may Allah be pleased with her)

85- Water is not affected by Janābah

86- It is not impure. It is one of those who roam around among you

87- The urine of a girl should be washed, but the urine of a boy should be splashed with water

88- She should scrape it, rub it with water, and wash it, and then she may pray in it

89- It is enough for you to wash the blood, and there is nothing wrong with its mark

90- This is how the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) performed ablution

91- Perform ablution thoroughly, pass your fingers through each other, and sniff water well into your nose unless you are fasting

92- I saw ‘Ammār ibn Yāsir perform ablution, and he ran his fingers through his beard. It was said to him (or he said: I said to him): Do you run your fingers through your beard? He replied: What is there to prevent me if I have seen the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) run his fingers through his beard?

93- Two-thirds of a Mudd were brought to the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) and he began rubbing his arm

94- The Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) dispatched an expedition, but they came across cold weather. When they returned to the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him), he ordered them to wipe over their turbans and socks

95- During the Prophet's lifetime, the Companions used to wait for the ‘Ishā' prayer so much so their heads were lowered down (by dozing). They would then pray without performing (a new) ablution

96- Whoever touches his penis should make ablution

97- He asked: May I pray in the sheepfolds? He replied: Yes. He then asked: May I pray where camels sit? He replied: No

98- The one who washes the dead should take a bath, and the one who carries him should perform ablution

99- The Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) was reported to have said concerning a man who engages in sexual intercourse with his wife during her menses: Let him give one dinar or half a dinar in charity

100- Among the Jews, whenever a woman had her menstruation, they would neither eat with her nor associate with her in their houses
